“As a first-generation immigrant from China, I hold the power and ability to be anyone I want.  Powerful figures of my culture come from the Qing and Han Dynasty who overlooked the people of China.  I can emulate myself as someone with order and poise, like many empresses of their Dynasty.  I am a woman of Chinese culture, who is a descendant of Asian traditions, offering my diversity to be shown.  The energy I hold in myself is brought out in my culture.  Having experienced a bit of the hate Asians are enduring now, I believe showing myself and who I am is so important today.  Being Asian doesn't Define me as a whole, but it defines a very important part of me.  I am Unapologetic towards expressing myself as a first-generation immigrant and a country of fully-diverse citizens. The characteristics that completes me as a person is an understatement of a Divine feminine energy.  I overcome what's thrown at me and in today's society. I am more than ever Unapologetic of who I am and where I've come from.  I am not defined by my race, but by who I am as a human being.  Women I have descended from, after hundreds of years, are what inspire me to be the person I am meant to be.  I am Unapologetic in every way, coming from an Asian background, and I am fully proud of it.  My divine feminine energy is driven to be the best Asian American I can make myself. I am not by anyone else.”

Personal Reflection

My research was based on the inspiration of my culture and heritage which is where I was able to accumulate a voice memo of how I feel about the given questions received in the beginning of this process. I was inspired by past relics that held power and strength and compared how I can embody that figure of my own and emulate that same strength and power these women once had in their time. My title is the translated version of my middle name which was given to me by my birth mother. I am an immigrant from China as well as adopted. I hold my own strength and with my title and voice memo I am addressing and showing that I am a strong woman of my culture. And even if in today’s society Asians are poorly mistreated, I want to embrace who I am and where I come from.
